Educational Transparency & Copyright Notice

1. Educational Purpose & Fair Use Notice

Open Fretboard is a non-profit educational platform created to teach acoustic and electric guitar playing to musicians of all skill levels. All chord charts, chord voicings, tabs, strumming patterns, and lyric snippets published on this website are compiled and arranged strictly for educational, instructional, scholarship, and private study purposes.

This content is provided in accordance with the principles of Fair Use under Title 17, Section 107 of the United States Copyright Code and Section 52(1)(a) of the Indian Copyright Act (fair dealing for research, private study, criticism, or review).

2. Ownership of Musical Works & Lyrics

The original musical compositions, melodies, commercial recordings, and song lyrics remain the exclusive intellectual property and copyright of their respective songwriters, composers, recording artists, and music publishers.

Open Fretboard does not host, stream, sell, distribute, or provide downloads of copyrighted master audio recordings or commercial backing tracks. Our materials consist entirely of independent musical transcriptions, chord analysis, finger placement diagrams, and educational commentary created to assist musicians in learning acoustic guitar performance.

3. Accuracy & Practice Guidance

Our instructors strive to provide musically accurate chord transcriptions verified against original studio releases and live performances. However, music transcription is fundamentally an interpretative art, and different arrangements may use alternative voicings, capo positions, or harmonic simplifications.

All learning resources, exercise guides, and technique tutorials are provided on an "as is" basis. Open Fretboard does not guarantee that our arrangements represent identical official sheet music published by artists' licensed distributors.

4. Copyright Inquiries & Content Removal (DMCA)

Open Fretboard respects the intellectual property rights of all creators and copyright holders. If you are a copyright owner, artist, or authorized representative and believe that any transcription, arrangement, or lyric excerpt on this site infringes upon your copyright without adequate authorization, please contact us promptly.
